Gentle Imaging for Deeper Insight

Thermography Scans

Worried something’s off but not sure where to start?

Overview

Thermography scans offer a gentle, radiation-free way to spot early signs of inflammation or imbalance. Using your body’s natural heat patterns, this simple scan helps bring hidden concerns into view, without poking, pressure, or pain.

We offer three thermography scan options: breast, upper body, and full body, so you can choose the level of insight that fits your needs.

What Is Thermography?

Thermography (also known as thermal body imaging) uses infrared technology to measure and map the body’s surface temperature. These heat patterns can reveal areas of inflammation, poor circulation, or imbalance that may not yet show physical symptoms.

It’s completely non-invasive with no radiation, no contact, and no discomfort. You’ll simply stand or sit while a certified technician captures images of your body using a specialized infrared camera.

Potential Benefits

These are just a few of the ways thermography can support your wellness journey.

Early Insight into Inflammation

Catch heat signals that may show up before physical symptoms.

Circulation & Nerve Clarity

Spots subtle changes in blood flow and nerve-related heat patterns. Learn more in this study.

No pain, no contact, no radiation—just simple imaging.

Valuable Wellness Insight

Use the scan as a guide for your health journey or to support discussions with a provider.

Real Experience: Before & After

A Reenew client, “Becky”, received a full-body thermography scan before and after just one EESystem session. The change in her heat patterns was clear and encouraging.

Before and after one EESystem session. Notice the shift in heat patterns across the upper body.

How it Works

Thermography reads the body’s natural infrared heat signature. Areas of inflammation or imbalance often appear as “hot spots,” while areas with poor circulation may appear cooler.

Thermography captures the natural heat patterns your body gives off, like a visual map of your internal activity. Areas with inflammation often show up warmer, while spots with poor circulation may appear cooler.

Once your images are taken, certified Thermologists analyze them for patterns that can offer helpful clues about your health. While thermography doesn’t diagnose conditions, it’s a powerful, non-invasive way to better understand what your body may be trying to tell you.

About Thermography

What can thermography detect?

Thermography picks up on heat patterns in the body that can reveal signs of inflammation, poor circulation, nerve irritation, and other imbalances, sometimes even before symptoms appear. It’s not a diagnostic tool, but it can offer helpful insight for proactive care.

Can thermography tell me if I have cancer?

Thermography can’t diagnose cancer, but it’s a valuable tool for spotting heat patterns that may signal inflammation or abnormal activity.

The FDA recommends using it alongside screenings like mammograms, not as a replacement, but as an extra layer of insight to help you stay proactive about your health.

Is thermography just a fad?

Not at all. Body temperature has been a trusted health indicator since 400 BC, and studies continue to show it’s a reliable sign of what’s happening inside. Thermography simply modernizes that wisdom with safe, advanced technology. It’s not a trend, it’s a proven tool.

Is thermography safe for all ages?

Yes, thermography is completely non-invasive and radiation-free, making it safe for people of all ages. If you have specific concerns, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help.

Is there scientific research on thermography?

Yes, there’s a growing body of research, including clinical studies and peer-reviewed articles, that explore the use of thermography in different areas of health. Below, we’ve included a section “The Science Behind Thermography”. It’s a great starting off point for you to dive into the science and see how this technology is being studied and applied.

Choosing a Scan

Is this scan right for me?

It’s a great option if you’re looking for a non-invasive way to get more insight into your health. That said, if you have certain conditions like lung cancer, breast implants, or very dense breast tissue, the scan might not be as clear. Feel free to reach out and ask, we’ll walk you through it.

How do I choose the right scan for my needs?

Each scan type is designed to focus on specific regions of the body:

  • Breast Scan: Covers the chest and underarm area from the base of the neck to just below the chest. Includes front, sides, and angled (45°) views.

  • Upper Body Scan: Includes the head, neck, chest, abdomen (to the waist), back, and arms (not hands). Views are taken from the front, sides, and back.

  • Full Body Scan: A comprehensive head-to-toe scan that includes everything from the other scans, plus legs, feet, and full back—captured from multiple angles.

How many images are taken for each scan?

The number of images varies depending on the scan type:

  • Breast Scan: 6 images (front, sides, and 45° angles)

  • Upper Body Scan: 15 images

  • Full Body Scan: 27 images for women, 29 for men

Your technician will ensure all necessary images are taken accurately and comfortably.

How much do the thermography scans cost?

Pricing varies depending on the type of scan you choose: breast, upper body, or full body. You can view the full breakdown in the section directly below (or by clicking here) to see which option fits your needs best.

Can I use thermography instead of a mammogram?

No, thermography is not a replacement for mammograms or other diagnostic tools. It’s meant to be used as a supportive tool alongside traditional screenings, not in place of them.

Before Your Appointment

How should I prepare for my scan?

A little prep goes a long way in getting accurate images. Here’s what to do:

  • Avoid using lotions, oils, deodorants, or powders on the day of your scan

  • Wear comfortable, easy-to-change clothing

  • Remove all jewelry and accessories before your scan

  • If your scan includes the eye area, remove glasses or contacts

  • You’ll have time to relax and acclimate to the room temperature without any rush

What should I know about disrobing for the scan?

You’ll need to disrobe based on the area being scanned, but a modesty gown is always provided to keep you comfortable and covered. Your technician will explain everything clearly and respectfully before the scan begins.

How long does a scan take?

Plan for the following total time, depending on the scan type. We recommend giving yourself a little wiggle room as well, just in case:

  • Breast Scan: 30–45 minutes

  • Upper Body Scan: 35–65 minutes

  • Full Body Scan: 55–85 minutes

Here’s a quick breakdown of what that includes:

  • Paperwork & Health History: 15–30 minutes

  • Changing & Getting Settled: About 5 minute

After Your Scan

Who interprets the scans?

Your scan deserves more than just a quick glance, that’s why we work with certified Thermologists who specialize in thermography. These experienced Thermologists use advanced software to carefully review each image and ensure nothing is missed. With built-in quality checks, second opinions, and full HIPAA compliance, you can feel confident knowing your report is in expert hands—and made with your well-being in mind.

What does the scan report include?

Your thermography report will include thermal images from your scan, along with a detailed written analysis by a certified Thermologist. The report highlights areas of concern, explains what the heat patterns may indicate, and provides clear, easy-to-understand notes. It’s designed to help you (and your healthcare provider, if needed) decide if any further action or follow-up is recommended.

Can I talk to someone about my scan results?

Yes! If you have questions about your report or want to better understand your results, we’re happy to help. While the scans are interpreted by certified Thermologists off-site, we can assist in clarifying the report and, if needed, help you connect with a professional for further discussion. Just reach out, we’re here to support you.

How soon will I get my results?

You’ll typically receive your full report by email within about a week. If it’s ready sooner, we’ll reach out right away.

What happens after I get my report?

We’ll be available to help you understand your results and answer any follow-up questions. If you’d like additional guidance, we can also help you connect with a healthcare professional.

Will insurance cover my scan?

Thermography is not currently covered by most insurance plans. We do our best to keep our pricing clear and accessible so you can make the best decision for your health.

Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for a thermography scan?

In many cases, yes. Thermography is often eligible for payment through a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Some plans may require a letter of medical necessity from your healthcare provider, so it’s a good idea to check with your plan administrator before your appointment to confirm what’s needed.
